Event Overview
The 54th SGATAR Meeting 2025 was held at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre (BCEC) from 16th to 19th of September. The annual summit brought together around 200 tax administrators from across Southeast Asia to share insights, strengthen collaboration, and discuss policy development.
Hosted by the Australian Taxation Office (ATO), the event featured high-level sessions requiring seamless communication across multiple languages, including English, Mandarin, Vietnamese, Japanese, and Korean. Interpreters delivered these sessions from booths. With simultaneous interpreting and advanced conferencing solutions, all delegates were able to participate fully, regardless of language barriers.

Our Solution
Congress Australia was entrusted to deliver a fully integrated interpretation and conferencing solution, deploying:

-
Dicentis simultaneous interpretation system to manage multilingual communication
-
CCS1000D conferencing microphones
-
MVI integrated automatic camera switching and vision management for smooth video capture
-
NDI network transport technology to transmit multiple channels of interpreted audio across BCEC’s network infrastructure
Our technical team successfully coordinated multiple rooms, ensuring interpreters could switch between in-room observation and live video feeds, depending on which session was active.

Key Challenges & How They Were Addressed
Access to the Venue
BCEC had an event scheduled in one of the required rooms until midnight, preventing our team from beginning setup until 2 AM on the morning of the show. To overcome this, we flew in two additional technicians, doubling the crew from two to four. This allowed us to install and test the system overnight, ensuring the event launched seamlessly.

Network Configuration
Transmitting multi-channel interpreted audio and video over the venue’s infrastructure required a carefully managed VLAN setup to prevent interference. Through close coordination between our technicians and the BCEC IT team, we successfully deployed a secure, dedicated network environment.

Outcome
The 54th SGATAR Meeting ran smoothly across all four days, with simultaneous interpretation enabling every delegate to engage fully. Both plenary and Heads of Delegation sessions were conducted without interruption, supported by high-quality audio, video, and interpretation services.
Our innovative use of NDI technology over the venue’s existing network was a first for BCEC and demonstrated the efficiency and flexibility of our conferencing solutions.
