The Opportunity
On May 8th, 2025, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) hosted the 119th ABU mid-year Administrative Council Meeting, bringing together representatives from the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU).
The event focused on key policy decisions, strategic initiatives, and collaborative projects vital to the Union’s continued growth. ABC’s objective was to deliver a high-quality, hybrid, multilingual event that met both its internal production standards and ABU’s strict language accessibility requirements.

One Room. Nine Languages. Total Clarity.
The setup was completed the day before the event, building on our prior experience at the same venue. We worked closely with the internal ABC production team and Big Picture (video contractors) to ensure a smooth technical integration.
The final setup featured:
30x Bosch Wired Dicentis Microphones
2x Avonic CM93 PTZ Cameras
1x Custom MVI PC
AI Interpreting delivered via Bosch Mics
Bosch Digital Infrared Headsets
Zoom Integrations

To address the event’s multilingual needs, AI-powered interpretation and captioning were provided in nine languages. In-room delegates accessed interpretation through a combination of Interprefy AI simultaneous interpreting, Bosch microphones, and Bosch Digital Infrared headsets. Remote participants received the interpreted audio via Zoom’s interpreting feature. Congress Australia’s custom multi-Zoom workflow enabled all nine interpreted channels to be delivered to Zoom using a single Mac, greatly simplifying the setup and reducing equipment without compromising quality or reliability.

When Multilingual Meets Hybrid - Here's the Fix:
Delivering a multilingual hybrid meeting of this scale presented several technical and logistical challenges. The client required seamless interpretation and captioning in nine languages, delivered both in-person and remote via Zoom, all while minimising equipment footprint and ensuring audio quality.
Key challenges included:
Integrating multiple language channels into Zoom without deploying multiple computers
Feeding numerous language channels into the Bosch conference system.
To meet these challenges, our team integrated cutting-edge AI interpreting technology, robust conference hardware, and bespoke software tools. Using our custom Congress Multi-Zoom configuration, we successfully fed all AI language channels into Zoom’s interpretation system from a single MacBook, drastically reducing the required equipment. By leveraging the Interprefy routing panel and Dante audio feeds, we ensured smooth, reliable signal routing across all language channels.
The Moment It All Came Together
The event ran flawlessly, delivering a seamless multilingual conference experience for both in-person and online delegates. All language channels were recorded and time-aligned, and the live stream featured ABC-branded graphics and lower-thirds for a polished finish. Collaboration between our team, the ABC internal crew, and Big Picture ensured smooth execution from setup to delivery. Congress Australia’s innovative approach to multilingual Zoom integration and AI-powered interpretation established a new benchmark for hybrid multilingual events, demonstrating what’s possible when onsite and remote systems are expertly combined.
