Diving Into the Antarctic Summit: Science, Diplomacy & Delegates

The forty-fourth meeting of the Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources brought together 300 delegates from member nations, supported organisations, and observers. The event focused on reviewing scientific advice, conservation measures and fisheries management for the Antarctic region.

Congress Australia was engaged to deliver a high-reliability, four-language, hybrid conferencing environment that enabled real-time negotiation across English, French, Spanish and Russian for both in-room and online participants. The Governor of Tasmania attended, along with representatives from ASOC, ACAP and SCAR.

Navigating Operational Risk Within a Protocol-Driven Setting

Multilingual Interpretation

The meeting required parallel delivery of four languages, with interpreters supporting both in-room and remote participants. Our streamlined Dicentis workflow, combined with RTMP feeds and Zoom integration, delivered stable, predictable audio across all channels. This removed the need for separate systems and avoided duplicated workflows.

Real Time AV Integration

Managing camera tracking, lower thirds and delegate microphones within a unified workflow was essential to avoid operational complexity. Our integrated system allowed technicians to focus on content rather than equipment switching, providing a smoother experience for all participants.

External Disruptions

A protest occurred on the opening day when demonstrators accessed the building roof to display banners related to krill fishing. Technical operations continued without interruption, and delegates remained engaged. The system held stable throughout, demonstrating strong operational resilience.

Successful Technical Delivery Supporting Global Collaboration

The event ran successfully across both meeting rooms for the full duration of the two-week program. Interpretation was continuous and clear, and camera tracking supported transparent and equitable debate. Delegates were able to navigate complex, science-heavy decision-making without technical distraction.

The meeting highlighted Congress Australia’s deep familiarity with CCAMLR’s technical requirements and the value of a fully integrated workflow that is continually refined.
