Connecting Military Health Professionals Worldwide
The Australian Defence Force hosted the 45th ICMM World Congress on Military Medicine at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre. The five-day congress brought together military medical professionals from around the world through a program of plenary presentations and breakout sessions. The organisers required English and French interpretation across all sessions, along with additional language support to improve accessibility for international delegates. The objective was to deliver a scalable multilingual experience that combined professional human interpreters with AI-powered speech translation technology.

Delivering Human & AI Interpretation Solutions
Congress Australia deployed remote professional interpreters for English and French during the main sessions to ensure high levels of clarity and accuracy. Across five breakout rooms, Congress Australia delivered AI speech translation in seven languages, with English used as the floor language. The AI translation solution included custom glossaries configured by the Congress team to improve the accuracy of terminology during live multilingual sessions.
Delegates accessed interpretation via their smartphones using QR codes displayed at room entrances and on presentation slides, removing the need for traditional receivers and reducing equipment on site. Audio and video from the onsite AV team were fully integrated into both the human and AI interpretation systems.
