Mobile App-based Remote Interpretation for WFOT Paris
Background:
World Federation of Occupational Therapists is the global voice for occupational therapy. They set the standard for occupational therapy education and promote excellence in research and practice. Their International Congress is held every four years to bring together occupational therapists, assistants and students from across the globe. The 18th WFOT Congress took place in Paris, France.
Client's vision:
The 18th WFOT International Congress was organised to run as a hybrid event, physically in Paris, France and online through Cvent. Delegates required interpretation in both English and French across nine different rooms in person and online, preferably without the need for any dedicated hardware. In addition, Interpreters had to work remotely for the entire event with their audio being channelled directly to delegates both in the room and online.
Our solution:
The Congress Rental Network Remote Simultaneous Interpretation app powered by Interprefy was the perfect solution for this event. Using the app, an event token with nine rooms was set up, each of the rooms had both English and French Interpretation available with interpreters working using the backend of the software from home offices.

Instructions:
On-site delegates that required interpretation were provided with a simple five-step set of instructions to install and operate the app.

Delegates who joined remotely on Cvent were able to join one of two feeds for each room depending on the language they wanted to listen to the meeting in, English or French.
Our Process:
A Congress technical producer travelled to Paris to manage the project and work alongside four local technicians from IS Communication, our French partner company from the Congress Rental Network. The team worked to manage source capture video and audio to Interprefy, moderate interpreters, manage language feeds, assist with streaming to Cvent and ensure the best delegate experience.
All 18 Interpreters working on the job were recruited and managed internally by Congress.
The Event:
Hundreds of delegates accessed the live interpretation feeds through the app at any time without any issues. Over the duration of the multi-day event, nearly 5000 connections to the app were made.
With the infrastructure provided by the Congress Rental Network Remote Simultaneous Interpretation App powered by Interprefy, interpretation feeds worked seamlessly. Each delegate, whether in person or online had full access to English and French options.
